HI 5341 Learning Environment Development in the Health Sciences

3 semester credit hours/meets part of the research informatics component 

Prerequisites: HI 5340 or consent of instructor 

In this course, you will work with a community partner in UTHealth or greater Houston community to analyze, design and develop a learning environment by applying a variety of tools and technologies. You can either work individually or in a team. The design and development of the learning environment will address a need in our community and involve a connection between the campus and the world around it. You will work with a client of your choice to set up the development schedule and milestones and coordinate the project throughout the semester. You will need to seek for the approval from your instructor to begin the project and will need to update your project progress on a biweekly basis to your instructor. By the end of the course, you will have a list of documentations and final product that you can submit to your client and the instructor for final grading. By taking this course, you will obtain hands-on experience in learning environment development, technology integration, project management, problem solving, and client communication which are essential for a health professional.
