A bioinformatics postdoctoral fellow position is available immediately in the School of Biomedical Informatics, University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, starting on February 1st, 2013.
The postdoctoral fellow will work with a group of bioinformaticians, biostatisticians, computer scientists and biologists to employ text mining, ontology and genome information to infer novel gene networks and to apply computational skills to analyze large data sets involved in human disease.
The ideal candidate will have strong programming skills in C++, objective oriented methodology, web portal design, and relational database (SQL, database design, interface to web). Knowledge in ontology development and semantic web is desirable. Candidate should have strong background in the field of computer science, statistics or mathematics.
