Andrew Wen

Data Scientist II

Bio: Andrew is a Data Scientist II at the Center for TEAM-AI. Andrew’s research focuses on clinical natural language processing methodology development using big data, the use of clinical NLP to enhance information extraction and retrieval, and its applicability to digital health applications. Prior to joining UTHealth Houston, Andrew was a Senior Data Science Analyst at the Mayo Clinic. His current work involves investigation of hybrid information retrieval approaches to enhance in-silico clinical phenotyping, and usage of clinical data at scale to support development of clinical artificial intelligence algorithms. Additionally, he is the lead developer of the Open Health Natural Language Processing Toolkit (OHNLPTK), an open-sourced clinical NLP toolkit that is currently deployed to 17 major academic medical institutions.
