Ph.D. Student
Bio: Kurt Miller is a PhD candidate in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology at University of Minnesota and a Senior Data Science Analyst in the Center for Digital Health at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. His research concentration in clinical Natural Language Processing endeavors to advance methods for portable and generalizable clinical information extraction and retrieval. After earning his bachelor’s degree in legal studies from University of California, Berkeley, and Master’s in Computer Science from California State University, Sacramento, Kurt contributed to the decision engineering group at Intel as a data scientist and to Azure cloud infrastructure at Microsoft as a data engineer. With Kurt's broad academic background and professional experience, he aims to both progress clinical NLP research and translate insights into better clinical systems.
