Course Description

This advanced course explores the intersection of population health informatics and the non-medical determinants of health, equipping students with cutting-edge tools and methods to address social, environmental, and behavioral factors influencing health outcomes. This course combines theoretical frameworks, hands-on data analysis, and project-based learning to distill informatics principles and implications to improve population health initiatives.

Learning Objectives

Upon successfully completing this course, the student will:

  • Identify and analyze key factors impacting population health using advanced informatics methods and tools.
  • Evaluate open-source population health data sources considering local contextual factors.
  • Design, develop and evaluate technology-based interventions to address factors impacting population health.
