BMI 6324 Health Information Technology Policy

This course will examine policy issues related to the use of information technologies in health care. It will examine key policies and policy issues in three areas: clinical informatics, consumer informatics and population health informatics. The primary focus will be on the United States, but international approaches will also be discussed.

By the end of this course, students will:

  • Identify policies and government-led efforts that impact (both directly and indirectly) health informatics.
  • Analyze how policies shape the health informatics landscape.
  • Apply policy framework to health informatics issues in order to make improvement suggestions that are practically and politically feasible.
