Gulf Coast Regional Extension Center – Graduate Assistant Position (RGV Area Students)

Location: RGV area (McAllen, Brownsville, Harlingen, Weslaco)

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Graduate Assistant will assist with providing functional support to achieve milestones of assisting healthcare providers to attain national standard for the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS). This person will be responsible for directing providers to the availability of technical assistance, guidance and information on best practices to ensure that the providers are meeting the set standards for the Merit-based Incentive Payment System.

POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Works under the guidance and direction of the Applications Support Analysts I and II and assists in providing healthcare providers support throughout the process of meeting the national standards for Merit-based Incentive Payment System.
  2. Assists in providing end-user training for core modules of EMRs as it relates to MIPS/Meaningful Use.
  3. Assists in evaluation, diagnosis and resolution of problems reported by providers.
  4. Assists in developing and maintaining materials such as brochures, fact sheets, marketing flyers, educational handouts, and online resources.
  5. Assists in conducting the Security Risk Assessment (SRA) tool performed for each practice.
  6. Assists in managing the queue of all inquiries, problems and requests submitted by the providers to be addressed by the Applications Support Analyst team.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION:
Bachelor degree in computer science or related field or a bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field with training in Health Information Technology.
