Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) Position – Data Annotation

A GRA position is available at McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics at UTHealth Houston, formerly UTHealth Houston School of Biomedical Informatics (SBMI). This position will work with Dr. Kirk Roberts to perform the following duties:

Job Description:
This GRA will be responsible for -

  1. Data annotation/curation for different data sources: electronic health records (EHRs), radiology reports, biomedical literature articles, FDA drug labels, social media posts, etc.
  2. Assist in literature reviews about topics related to biomedical text mining and natural language processing (NLP).
  3. Management of data annotation in coordination with annotators with clinical experience
  4. Development of manuscripts and conference publications

Requirements:

Candidate must be currently enrolled as a student in a program at UTHealth. The ideal candidate should have working knowledge of Python and machine learning (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras), have experience with handling large scale multimodal datasets, and familiar with human subjects research.

Potential Projects:

The individual working in this position will have the opportunity to work on projects related to NLP, including projects specifically on EHR data, biomedical literature articles, and social media postings.
