Graduate Research Assistant

An opening for a Graduate Research Assistant position is available at the School of Biomedical Informatics, University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. The successful candidate will work (20 hours/week with GRA benefits) with the SBMI IT and Distance Education teams to migrate web course content into Moodle.

Task details:

  • Create Moodle activities
  • Create and define entries in Moodle Glossary using point-and-click interface
  • Copy and paste web content into Moodle, edit content using Moodle text editor
  • Some HTML hand coding may be needed
  • Enter mathematic notations and special characters
  • Proofread course pages, test lesson functionality

Skills and experiences:

  • Required:
    1. Solid understanding of HTML
  • Desired:
    1. Ability to hand code web pages
    2. Working knowledge of Javascript
    3. Familiarity with Moodle and TinyMCE, prior experience using LaTex

The position is available for the spring 2014 semester and may be continuous depending on funding availability and GRA performance.
