Position: Graduate Research Assistant
Location: McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics
Role Overview:
We seek a dedicated and skilled Graduate Research Assistant to join the Center for Translational AI Excellence and Applications in Medicine (TEAM-AI) at McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics. This position is ideal for a student with a passion for clinical natural language processing (NLP), artificial intelligence (AI), cancer informatics, or clinical research informatics, looking to apply their skills in a real-world setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the full AI model development and evaluation lifecycle, including data cleaning and preprocessing, designing and managing gold-standard evaluation protocols, and implementing AI models.
- Assist in data mining for clinical outcomes by leveraging diverse data sources and applying natural language processing (NLP) and AI techniques.
- Perform clinical data retrieval using SQL to support research and analytical tasks.
- Contribute to core informatics research operations, including coordination of user surveys, focus groups, and workshops.
Required Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Python and SQL programming.
- Have basic knowledge in biomedical informatics, AI and NLP methods.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Some level of informatics knowledge
