Position: Graduate Research Assistant
Location: McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics
Role Overview:
We seek a dedicated and skilled Graduate Research Assistant to join the Center for Translational AI Excellence and Applications in Medicine (TEAM-AI) at McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics. This position is ideal for a student with a passion for clinical natural language processing, clinical research informatics and aging research, looking to apply their skills in a real-world setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the end-to-end natural language processing development and evaluation lifecycle, including assisting in the design and oversight of gold standard evaluation processes, implementing the OHNLP toolkit, and developing and evaluating rule-based and machine learning NLP algorithms.
- Support core informatics research operation, such as coordinating user surveys, focus groups, and workshops.
- Assist in clinical data retrieval tasks using SQL.
Required Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Python and SQL programming.
- Have basic knowledge in natural language processing and data science.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Java programming.
- Familiarity with OMOP
- Have prior clinical NLP research experience.
Duration:
Minimum commitment of one year.
