Postdoctoral Scholar Position in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genetics and Data Mining

Position Description:

A post-doctoral research fellow position is available in Dr. Peilin Jia’s group in the Center for Precision Health at McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics. Using integrative computational approaches, we focus on the understanding of genotype-phenotype relationships underlying complex diseases. We seek for highly motivated postdoctoral candidates who are interested in the following research areas: (1) Methodology development on integrative analysis of multidimensional data; (2) Computational genetic and genomic investigation of complex diseases, in particular psychiatric diseases; and (3) Bioinformatics and systems biology research on cancer. Our lab has a long standing interest in developing methods in translational bioinformatics to aid precision medicine in cancer.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • PhD in Bioinformatics, Mathematics, Biostatistics, or Computational Biology
  • Strong programming skills (R, Python, Java, C or C++), as evidenced by track record of publication
  • Experience in next-generation sequencing analysis
  • Strong mathematical and statistical background (machine learning)
  • Solid skills in spoken and writing English
  • Experience in analyzing biological and genomic databases

Salary: NIH post-doc salary scale
