Happy Holidays from McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics

Happy holidays to everyone in the McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics Community. We hope everyone enjoys a joyous holiday season. Please be safe and stay healthy as you spend time with your friends and family.

The university will be closed Dec. 24 - 26, 2024. Our school offices will be open on December 23, 27, 30 and 31 with limited hours and limited staff so please email [email protected] if you need any assistance during those days. The university will also be closed on January 1, 2025 with regular business hours resuming on January 2, 2025.

McWilliams Bragging Points

Several members of our McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics Community have recently earned special recognition or contributed to the informatics community. We want to congratulate those individuals on these accomplishments.

  • Ekin Soysal, PhD student, was named the winner of the Paul C. Boyle Research award for fall 2024. His poster titled “A Literature Review of Concept Normalization Methodology in Electronic Health Records” won this month’s Poster Session.

TMC AI Summit: Save the Date

The Texas Medical Center (TMC) AI Summit 2025 will take place February 20-21 at TMC Helix Park. Save the date for this exciting event taking place in Houston. The summit also has a call for participation and the deadline is January 6, 2025.

AMIA Trainee and Early Career Professional Meeting Scholarship

The AMIA Leadership and Education Award Donation (LEAD) Fund is pleased to sponsor the Trainee and Early Career Professional Meeting Scholarship. The purpose of this award is to cover a portion of registration for the AMIA 2025 Informatics Summit for trainee and early career professionals presenting research. Eligibility is limited to trainees and early career professionals with accepted presentations.

The application deadline is December 23. Learn more or apply today.

Reminder: VPN Authentication Update
