Job Summary:
The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) - School of Biomedical Informatics (SBMI) has a non-tenure track Research Assistant Professor position in its Center for Systems Medicine (CSM).
RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research on (1) Bone regeneration modeling and (2) Pan-cancer analysis on microRNA-gene interactions. In the bone regeneration project, the candidate will develop an innovative 3D multiscale computational model integrating in vitro and in vivo experimental data to explore the bone regeneration process on hydrogel casted scaffold. In the pan-cancer microRNA project, the candidate will investigate the positive correlations between miRNA and gene expressions that have been detected in TCGA tumor samples across various cancer types.
QUALIFICATIONS: The individual should possess a doctoral degree in one of the following areas: bioinformatics, genomics, genetics, computational biology, biomedical informatics, computer science, medicine, biostatistics, or related disciplines. A record of verifiable and published research in bioinformatics and genomics and potential for obtaining extramural funding are preferred. Excellent teamwork and communication skills are required. APPOINTMENTS/BENEFITS: This position is a full time, 12-month appointment on the non-tenure track, renewable on a yearly basis.
