Job Summary: Under general direction of senior research staff, conducts activities to support research projects. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices. The School of Biomedical Informatics is seeking a Research Assistant II on a Casual (less than 20 hours per week) status basis to perform the following duties:

  1. Conducts research activities, under general direction, according to research. Research activities may include some or all of the following: data processing, analysis and interpretation. Also includes, manuscript preparation, and/or project research related activities. Will ensure that there are laptops, desktops, paper, presentation tools, etc available at all times. This position will also coordinate the work of GRA's, predoctoral, and post doctoral fellows.
  2. Maintains adequate level of lab supplies to assure timely achievement of lab activities.
  3. Maintains accurate and timely records to include notebooks, records, databases, etc. as needed by the research project.
  4. Stays abreast of new and updated protocols for research department.
  5. As needed, coordinates the work of laboratory technicians, support staff and other assistants to ensure efficient, timely and high quality results. Answers questions or resolves problems regarding routine or more complex duties.
  6. Complies with all governmental and University policies, rules, regulation and codes.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree with a minimum of one year related experience or relevant experience in lieu of education.

Depending on project(s), Certification for Protection of Human Research Subjects may be required or must be complete within 5 days of employment.

SALARY: Commensurate with experience.
