McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics – Department Chairs

McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics at UTHealth Houston, formerly UTHealth Houston School of Biomedical Informatics (SBMI) is accepting applications for Chairs to lead three newly founded departments. The webpages for the new departments are being developed; however, the education and faculty components can be found on the webpages for the three academic concentrations that will form the three departments, as indicated below.

The Chair for each department within the McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics will lead approximately 20 faculty, and is expected to bring effective leadership and management skills to cultivate existing strengths of the School. The Chair will lead the rapidly expanding research enterprise and foster collaborations in the Department, across our school, and with other UTHealth Houston departments and schools, as well as specialty institutes and centers of UTHealth Houston, as appropriate. External to the School and University, the Chair will promote and facilitate training and research activities at the local, national, and global levels.

The Chair will also reinforce commitment to education by helping to strengthen and/or expand graduate curricula and programs in the Department’s focus areas. Importantly, the Chair will be expected to work closely with the Dean in devising and executing strategies that advance the School’s mission and vision.

These positions were posted on December 9, 2022, and will remain open until filled; applications will be processed and reviewed as they are received. The goal is to have all three chairs start their positions during the 2023 academic year.
