The Center for Quality Health IT Improvement (CQHII) partners with healthcare organizations across Texas to turn health information technology into a powerful driver of quality, efficiency, and better patient outcomes.
Established in 2010 by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (now the Assistant Secretary for Technology Policy, ASTP), CQHII brings more than 15 years of hands on experience supporting clinicians, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), and small rural hospitals. Our work is grounded in real world clinical environments—where limited resources, complex reporting requirements, and evolving regulations demand practical, trusted guidance.
Originally launched as a Regional Extension Center, CQHII helped underserved primary care practices successfully adopt and meaningfully use electronic health records (EHRs). Today, we continue that mission by helping organizations optimize, secure, and fully leverage their health IT investments to support both clinical excellence and regulatory success.
CQHII specializes in working alongside small, rural, and community based healthcare organizations, offering tailored support that meets you where you are. We understand that technology alone does not improve care—how it is implemented, used, and aligned with clinical workflows makes the difference.
Through our long standing partnership with the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health, CQHII integrates evidence based practices, quality improvement strategies, and public health expertise into every engagement. This collaboration ensures that our services not only meet compliance requirements but also contribute to broader goals of population health and community well being.
Clinicians participating in CQHII’s MIPS consulting services have consistently achieved higher performance scores and payment adjustments than national averages. Our approach emphasizes sustainability—helping organizations build internal capacity so improvements last well beyond a single reporting year.
Whether you are navigating regulatory requirements, optimizing your EHR, strengthening security, or advancing quality improvement initiatives, CQHII is ready to partner with you.
