Dr. Guangsheng Pei became a faculty associate at UTHealth School of Biomedical Informatics (SBMI) on March 1, 2020. Prior to this position, Pei was a postdoctoral research fellow (11/2017-02/2020) at UTHealth SBMI.
Pei interests span a broad range of research topics in systems biology and computational biology. During his doctoral program, he focused on integrating multi-omics data, investigating the regulatory mechanism of small RNA and metagenome-wide association study of gut microbiota in colorectal cancer. During his postdoc training, he focused on developing statistical methods to infer human complex diseases relevant tissue and cell type, developing deep learning model to prioritize causal variants from multiple complex diseases GWAS data. His researches also include analysis of single cell RNA sequencing data, in silico deconvolution analysis of single cell fingerprints in bulk RNA-seq profiles, and modeling their association with clinical outcomes. The Center for Precision Health has established the Cancer Genomics Core to drive medical innovation at the forefront of this promising technology. Dr. Pei will lead the next generation sequencing data analysis of this core. He will continue his research and collaborative with others to help better understanding the mechanism of multiple diseases.
