Dr. Jun Jiang joined the McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics as an Assistant Professor in December 2024, within the Center for Translational AI Excellence and Applications in Medicine (TEAM-AI). Before joining UTHealth, Dr. Jiang was a Research Associate at Mayo Clinic, where he specialized in AI modeling and biomedical image processing, with a particular focus on advancing histopathology image characterization through computational and data-driven techniques. He has developed and published several deep learning models for analyzing complex morphological features and tissue patterns in ovarian tumors. Dr. Jiang’s research interests also include leveraging multiomics data to investigate spatial patterns within tumor microenvironments and developing predictive AI models that integrate multimodal datasets. He has made significant con tributions to the integration of multimodal histopathology images, establishing spatial correlations between cells from different modalities. This work has been successfully applied to multiplex immunofluorescence data derived from proteomics and transcriptomics platforms. With expertise in radiology images, pathology images, and clinical text data, Dr. Jiang’s long-term goal is to combine diverse data sources to create AI models that enable more accurate disease diagnosis and personalized treatment predictions.
