Yu-Chun (Daniel) Hsu, Ph.D., joined the McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics at UTHealth Houston as a postdoctoral researcher in June 2021and is now a Faculty Associate specializing in biomedical informatics, neuroscience, and machine learning applications in healthcare. With a robust background in neuroscience, Dr. Hsu’s research expertise spans physiological signal analysis, particularly leveraging electrocardiography (ECG) and photoplethysmography (PPG) data to enhance cardiovascular diagnostics, including early detection of heart conditions and mortality prediction. His interdisciplinary experience, including previous roles as a data scientist at Chang-Gung Memorial Hospital and Chief Technical Officer at Beyond ECG, informs his work developing AI-driven solutions for complex clinical challenges in both cardiology and neurology. His current projects include advanced models for cardiovascular and neurological conditions, such as utilizing neuroimaging and cognitive scores to assess Alzheimer’s disease progression.
