Fall 2026 Course Registration is Open

Regular registration for fall 2026 is currently open and ends on Aug. 28 in myUTH. If you have questions regarding registration, email the Office of Academic Affairs at [email protected].

Fall 2026 Course Registration is Open

For fall 2026, McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics at UTHealth Houston courses will be taught both in-person and online. Students registered for in-person classes are expected to attend the on-campus sessions during the scheduled time and day each week. Students enrolled in web-based classes will complete all coursework 100% online.

The fall 2026 semester will begin on Monday, Aug. 31. For a full list of courses offered in the fall, visit the Semester Schedule webpage.

Members of our McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics Community have recently achieved noteworthy accomplishments. We want to recognize and applaud these individuals.

  • McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics Senior Financial Analyst Tambra Ellison (center of the image in the blue jacket) recently received an employee spotlight award at the University Classified Staff Council’s Annual workshop. Tambra plays a critical role in financial operations at the school and her nominator describes her as supportive, kind, professional, and positive. Please help us congratulate her on this special recognition.

  • Alumnus Jeritt Thayer, PhD '24 recently co-authored a JAMIA article focused on three malfunctions in a distributed clinical decision support (CDS) system used to support smoking cessation referrals.
Scholarship Deadline Reminder

McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics (MSBMI) is currently accepting fall 2026 scholarship applications for current students via the new Scholarship Manager portal.

As a reminder, only current students should apply. This means students starting a new program in fall 2026 who have never completed a class at MSBMI should not apply.

Call for Proposals for Epic Cosmos Datathon

Interested in using real-world data to help answer important healthcare questions? Submit your proposal by Monday, August 3, to participate in the 2026 Epic Cosmos Datathon taking place on Friday, October 16, in the Texas Medical Center.

During this interactive event, teams will explore a large dataset of electronic health records from more than 300 million patients and develop insights that could help improve patient care.

Submit a proposal online to participate. Cosmos Data Science Users who would like to join a team can Email your resume or CV and areas of expertise to be matched with accepted proposal teams.
