Professor Gong earns International Academy of Health Sciences Informatics fellow designation
UTHealth School of Biomedical Informatics (SBMI) is proud to announce that Professor and Alumnus Yang Gong, MD, PhD was recently named a 2021 fellow to the International Academy of Health Sciences Informatics (IAHSI).
The International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) notes that “Academy Membership is one of the highest honors in the international field of biomedical and health informatics.” Dr. Gong is proud to earn this esteemed distinction.
“As a clinical informatician, my research is focused on patient safety, health information technology, clinical decision support, and human-computer interaction, aiming to improve the collection, analysis, and aggregation of patient safety events, understand causes and consequences, and timely inform the subsequent actions to the frontline practitioners,” says Gong. “Being named to the Academy is a true honor and I am proud to be recognized along with 25 other extraordinary individuals from the largest biomedical and health informatics community in the world. It marks a new starting point in contributing to the Academy’s ongoing initiatives, objectives, and goals.”
Two other members of the SBMI Community are already IAHSI fellows. Professor Dean Sittig, PhD was named a fellow in 2017 and Dean and the Glassell Family Foundation Distinguished Chair in Informatics Excellence Jiajie Zhang, PhD was named a fellow in 2020.
