The goal of BIG-Arc's enhanced subject recruiting effort is to allow researchers to more easily recruit patients to studies by decreasing time required to screen subjects.
The Process
Our group will work with interested researchers to develop data queries taking into account the basic inclusion / exclusion criteria for proposed studies. These queries will serve as a pre-screen effort to identify patients who meet minimum study requirements. We will then create a report containing patients that meet the study criteria and have upcoming appointments, giving insight into which clinic's should be targeted, and when.
What data do we have?
Currently, the process works only in the UT Physicians outpatient setting, which provides access to Epic Clarity clinical data, updated on a nightly basis. In addition, the clinical data warehouse also comprises historical Allscripts and GECBI (Clinical Billing System) data. Easily accessible information includes:
Examples of Previous Queries
Male patients that received pulmonary artery catheterization within the last six months, between 35-55 years of age, diagnosed hypertensive and prescribed sildenafil.
Number of patients diagnosed with Alzheimer's, between 50-70 years of age, previously diagnosed with pneumonia, seen in outpatient clinics per month.
