SHARPC is examining the impact of alternative user interface designs for EHRs.
Projects include:
MEDICATION RECONCILIATION -- The Twinlist Project focuses on how visual layout and animation can help users see similarities in the lists and rapidly make decisions - with the Twinlist Interface.
MEDICATION RECONCILIATION -- A second Medication Reconciliation Prototype, MEDREC, was also developed. The reconciliation Algorithm which computes similarity between drugs is freely available at https://github.com/jherskovic/MedRec
RESULTS MANAGEMENT -- The Result Management Project focuses on methods of display to avoid missing diagnostic results when ordering labs, tests, or referrals.
REDUCING WRONG PATIENT SELECTION ERRORS --The Wrong Patient Selection Project focuses on interface improvements to reduce the problem of inadvertently picking the wrong patient in an EHR. It demonstrates multiple interface suggestions.
VISUAL COMPARISON OF TREATMENT OUTCOMES --A new visualization design to present summaries of outcomes data to patients (or to the patient-provider team) was developed. The project included a review of the literature and proposal of a framework for design. Team members are now developing an interactive web-based prototype showing four alternative designs.
